What is life coaching?

Life coaching helps you tackle anything in your life—big or small—to effect positive, forward momentum and change. You lead the sessions, not the coach. Life coaching also encourages you to take radical responsibility for yourself, your responses, behaviors, and actions. After all, you cannot change others, but you can change yourself!

what does a coaching session look like?

A coaching session will start checking in with you, checking on your progress (a.k.a. homework) from your last session, and what you want to focus on in that session. From there, I’ll use open-ended questions, silence, intuition, and more to help the you access your own innate wisdom to determine how you want to create lasting change. A session always ends with another checkpoint: What was your “a-ha” moment that session? What steps do you want to take to help make the change they seek a reality (what’s your chosen homework)?

How often should I receive coaching?

While everyone is going to be different, I generally recommend weekly sessions to start. As you start proving to yourself that you have what it takes to remain accountable to the change you want to see, we can increase the time between your sessions. When you book your free consultation, we’ll assess what you want to work on, where you are at, and from there design a coaching package to get you moving forward to a life fully aligned!

how do you incorporate energy work into a session?

This can take a lot of different forms. Before your session, I always prepare by calling in my higher self (soul) energy. This helps ensure that I am asking questions and guiding the session from a place free of my ego. In a session, additional energy work all depends on what you, the client, needs and wants. We can do different intuitive exercises to help you tap into your innate wisdom (soul), guided imagery or meditation, or even chakra/energy center work to help you open up your energy channels. Not every session will include these modalities, but chances are good that over the course of our coaching relationship, you’ll experience at least a few of them.

What is the difference between life coaching and therapy/counseling?

Life coaching is always focused on the present and future, working to create change in the client’s life. Therapy is past-focused, allowing the client to focus on how past experiences or traumas are impacting them and may or may not be focused on changing the client’s current or future situation. Life coaching can certainly include seeking to change a client’s behaviors or response patterns that are in place due to past trauma, but will always focus on guiding the client to make forward progress. If the client is not ready for the type of forward progress that the coaching relationship is geared towards, the coach may recommend ending the coaching relationship and the client seek help from a mental health professional.

What if I am an emotional hot mess but want help changing that?

Coaching can definitely help, as long as your dedication to making forward progress remains. Again, coaching is not therapy, so just know that in the coaching relationship, you will be asked to demonstrate commitment to growth. Part of my role is to provide you with the energetic space and safety net to FEEL all the junk that may need to be processed and worked through in order to make lasting change happen. I can do this with you if you need support getting into those icky-sticky emotions that can feel like they are swallowing you whole.
